Visit the Natural Nook Florist & Gifts at Fitzgerald’s and wander through its’ beautiful garden center with Oregon Coast native plants and flowers.

Play Tennis & Basketball

The pair of public tennis and basketball courts are located on an old estate that is part of Gearhart, Oregon history. The courts are just one block from the Gearhart Ocean Inn. We offer complimentary racquets and tennis balls.

Bike Around

With wide, quiet streets, and miles of sand, bike riding is safe and fun in Gearhart. The Gearhart Ocean Inn has complimentary beach cruiser bikes with baskets and helmets for our teenage and adult guests.

Explore the Necanicum Estuary:

Hike and observe nature’s most abundant wildlife habitat. The Necanicum Estuary is located between Gearhart and Seaside on the northern Oregon coast where the Necanicum River enters the Pacific Ocean.

The Gearhart, Oregon Beach

Twenty-miles of pristine, Gearhart, Oregon beach offers all kinds of activities: Bird watching, beach combing, walking, swimming, kayaking, storm watching, kite flying, whale watching, and surf fishing. Clam digging, in season, is a ton of fun! We even have clamming equipment for guests to borrow. And, you can drive your vehicle on the sand all the way north to Fort Stevens State Park.

Gearhart Oregon History – Walk the Historic Ridge Path:

Just a block away from the Inn, guests can easily walk the Ridge Path behind many of the dunes and classic homes. This three mile path runs North and South with little elevation gain and is located just east of our Inn. This walk is an interesting way to experience Gearhart and see things you won’t see from the streets.

Dine In or Out

Treat yourself to a freshly made scone or a Tillamook ice cream cone at Sweet Shop Gearhart. This local treasure also offers a fabulous selection of Oregon wines including Oregon’s world renowned Pinot Noir. They also offer freshly made sandwiches, soups, quiches, and cookies.

For dining, one of the finest cafés on the entire North Oregon Coast and right across the street from the Inn, is The Pacific Way Bakery and Café. The Bakery has fabulous Cafe Umbria coffee and sumptuous homemade French pastries.

Just across the street from Gearhart Ocean Inn is Gearhart Crossing, a pub and deli with a small town feel. It also offers a few kitchen & pantry staples for those last minute picnic lunches or at home dinners.  There are many local fish markets to satisfy your seafood urges.

Gearhart also is home to McMenamins Sand Trap Bar & Grill. It overlooks Gearhart Golf Links and customers enjoy the large wood burning fireplaces, inside and out, Oregon wines, and locally crafted beers.

Nearby, is an old-fashioned bowling alley, Gearhart Bowl & Fultano’s Pizza! Fultano’s offers fabulous pizza and are happy to provide gluten free pizza crusts.

Go for a Round of Golf

There are three public courses within three miles of Gearhart. The historic Gearhart Gold Links is modeled after the classic links in Scotland. Play around with friends or join a foursome and make new friends on the course. Our Innkeeper is happy to call ahead for a Tee Time, especially on weekends and during the summer months. Celebrate the Fourth of July:

Enjoy our classic small town “Fourth of July Parade” complete with local and visiting children on their red, white and blue decorated bicycles and wagons. The parade “marches” from North Marion Avenue to the Volunteer Fire Station on Pacific Way. Everyone is treated to complimentary hot dogs, chips, and a homemade cake decorated as an American flag. Gearhart’s Fourth of July Celebration is Americana at its best! Join us!
